The Phonoautobothy

Delivered by: Beatroute Arts
Last updated: 12/12/2025

The Phonoautobothy is a fully solar powered mobile recording studio, live stage, event space, and in fact has so many potential uses we haven’t thought of them all yet!

Live music festivals and outdoor performances traditionally rely on polluting diesel generators. Built using upcycled materials, the Phonoautobothy aims to showcase sustainable power generation for live and recorded music while engaging local communities around Glasgow’s ambitious net-zero goals.

The Bothy is the result of a collaborative project between The University of Glasgow, Idlefield Art Lab, and Beatroute Arts where it lives when its not out on the road, visiting festivals and events.

If you are interested in hiring the Phonoautobothy for a festival, event or project, please get in touch!
