The Wanderers is a social group for the elderly or housebound of local Falkirk churches is the Wanderers Group.
The Wanderers go out in a bus, which normally carries 12 passengers with 2 escorts. The bus has a tail-lift which we use for those who find the steps difficult. All our drivers are MIDAS trained.
From March to November, outings are arranged on a twice monthly basis. Each person is picked up from his/her home and returned there at the end of the afternoon.
Once everyone has been picked up we set off on a drive through the local area. Anywhere within a 30 mile radius (usually an hour’s journey) can be our destination. On arrival there the Wanderers enjoy an afternoon tea at a local teashop or garden centre, which gives everyone the opportunity to relax and chat.
During the winter months one outing per month is organized. While we still pick up each Wanderer and return him/her home, our destination is Falkirk Trinity church hall where entertainment and afternoon tea is laid on.
There is a cost involved to cover the van hire, insurance, petrol, and afternoon tea.
Dates for outings are advertised in the Monthly Church News - if you are interested in coming along, please contact the Office.
