The Citizens Theatre is an iconic venue and theatre company in the Gorbals area of Glasgow. We create ground-breaking theatre productions and empowering participatory projects, and we’re delighted to now welcome audiences, both new and old, into our beautifully redeveloped home. We are passionate about engaging people and communities across Glasgow and beyond.
The Young Co. is for people aged 18-23 who share a passion for making theatre. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, no experience necessary.This is your chance to explore every aspect of theatre-making – from performance and writing to design and production. Whatever your interests, we’ll support your development, nurture your creativity, and help you grow your skills.As part of Young Co., you’ll gain hands-on experience and a unique insight into how professional theatre is made. It’s also a space to build confidence, connect with others, and be part of a vibrant creative community.

All performance, participation, rehearsal and dressing room spaces fully accessible with level access or lift access.
Lowered stage rake allowing us to present disabled-led performance work.
We have a small car park adjacent to the building for visitors. There are four blue badge spaces within the car park. Early arrival on performance evenings to secure a space is recommended.
Level access from the street, through the foyer and into the auditorium
Accessible and ambulant toilets are located throughout the building, including two fully accessible toilets outside our Event Studio on the ground floor and one outside our Participate Studio on the first floor.
Hearing aid induction loops
Two public lifts are available: Courtyard Lift provides access to each level of the auditorium Close Lift provides access to Circle level of the Main Theatre and our Heritage Stories space on the second floor
We want our classes to be as accessible as possible. When booking there’ll be a chance to include your access requirements.
