Video transcript - A tour of ALISS

Soft background music plays throughout the video.

[00:05]

Welcome to the ALISS guidance videos. In this video, we'll show you around ALISS

[00:12]

to give you an understanding of some of the features available on the website.

[00:19]

We want ALISS to be accessible for everyone.

[00:22]

One way of doing this is through a ReachDeck accessibility toolbar,

[00:27]

which you can view by clicking on the “Accessibility Tools” button.

[00:33]

The toolbar has lots of great features:

[00:35]

it can read text out loud in your chosen language,

[00:39]

it can adjust the text size and contrast,

[00:42]

and it can simplify the page to make it easier to read.

[00:49]

You can find out more about the ALISS programme

[00:52]

in the “About ALISS” page.

[01:01]

Here, you can “Add to ALISS”,

[01:03]

but please check first if your organisation is already listed.

[01:09]

If it is not, continue with adding the organisation to ALISS.

[01:16]

You can make a search by either location,

[01:26]

by keyword,

[01:32]

and by category.

[01:36]

At the bottom of the page,

[01:38]

there are some useful links and documents to take a look at,

[01:42]

such as the “My Scottish Community” Alexa app, and a “How to Add to ALISS” guidance document.

[01:52]

ALISS has an AI search assistant.

[01:55]

Clicking the blue button opens a panel

[01:57]

where you can search aliss.org in a way that suits you.

[02:03]

ALISS also offers a “Quick exit” button,

[02:06]

which will instantly take you away from the ALISS site

[02:09]

and removes all traces of your search.

[02:19]

By default, the search is set to “Where”.

[02:22]

Pop a location into the search box, click “Search”

[02:26]

and you will see a list of all services in your area,

[02:29]

which you can then sort and filter,

[02:31]

to get to the results that you want to see.

[02:36]

On the search results page,

[02:38]

you will see a list of services available in your chosen location.

[02:42]

Each service has a short summary, which tells you a bit about the service.

[02:47]

If you decide you want to know more, just click on the name.

[02:55]

You can change the view you see of the results by clicking “Grid” view,

[02:59]

and see how many service results there are at the top of the list.

[03:03]

This will change as you filter your results.

[03:20]

There are a variety of sort and filter options

[03:23]

on the left hand side of the page, which will narrow your search

[03:26]

and help you find what you are looking for more easily.

[03:43]

Once you have narrowed your search

[03:44]

and found a service that you may be interested in learning more about,

[03:48]

click the name of the service for the full listing.

[03:54]

You will see a message at the top of the service listing

[03:57]

that tells you what the claim badge means.

[04:00]

You can request to claim or manage

[04:02]

and suggest an improvement to the service from this page.

[04:12]
