Venture Scotland

Venture Scotland delivers free, outdoor-based personal development programmes lasting twelve weeks. Our programmes involve weekly group-based outdoor activities such as canoeing, hill walking and climbing, as well as weekly social and emotional learning sessions, 1-to-1 support sessions and remote bothy residentials in the Scottish Borders and Glen Etive.

Venture Scotland works with young people aged 16-30 who are facing challenges in their life in Edinburgh, and with people aged 18+ living in Glasgow who are in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Our participants will experience routine, caring relationships, safe spaces with peers, meaningful activity, mindfulness, time away from technology and the restorative effect of the outdoors. Our programmes aim to empower our participants with the skills and strategies to understand and improve their mental wellbeing, develop their self-worth and confidence, and to feel hope for their future.
