CHAP is an Ayrshire charity providing free, independent and confidential support to people experiencing housing, welfare and debt issues.

Our core services are:

1. CHAP Housing provides help and advice to homeowners and tenants experiencing issues, including those facing homelessness.

2. CHAP Welfare provide support to access benefit entitlement and challenge decisions.

3. CHAP Money helps people resolve financial challenges and reduce the stress these can bring.

We offer representation at court/tribunals in relation to all issues if required.

We also provide an education service:

  • Early intervention and prevention delivered in secondary schools around homelessness prevention and financial education.
  • ​Multiply: helping people with financial literacy, budgeting etc.


CHAP has been delivering services in Ayrshire for over 20 years and is accredited up to Type 3 with the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers and authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
