Young Carer Grant

Last updated: 13/11/2025

Social Security Scotland is an executive agency of the Scottish Government. We help the people of Scotland by delivering a range of social security payments.

One of the benefits we deliver is the Young Carer Grant which is an annual payment for people aged 16, 17 or 18 who care for people who get a disability benefit for an average of 16 hours a week or more.

You can get Young Carer Grant once a year, up until you turn 19. You'll need to fill in a new form or call us each year you want to apply.

To find out more, or apply for any of our benefits, you can phone one of our advisors. For other contact options and support, please see our website.
