The Open Museum

Glasgow Life Museums offer opportunities to explore a wealth of art, history and heritage.

The Open Museum supports Glasgow-based groups and organisations who may find it difficult to visit our museums. We do this through our loan kit service; delivering outreach sessions; and hosting travelling displays in community venues.

Handling kits

Would you like to borrow museum objects to run a handling session in your local community? We offer themed handling and reminiscence kits containing museum objects and photographs which can be borrowed free of charge by community groups in Glasgow. 

Outreach

Is your group unable to attend a museum venue? We can visit your group with a handling kit so your group members can share memories, learn new facts and get the chance to handle real museum artefacts. 

Travelling displays

Our travelling displays tour to the heart of communities all over the city, including libraries and local shopping centres.
