Children’s Health Scotland’s SMS Programme supports children and young people aged 9–17 with long-term health conditions, disabilities, or emotional wellbeing challenges. Through six weekly workshops (face-to-face or online), participants build confidence, resilience, and self-management skills using fun, creative activities. Topics include emotional health, friendships, coping in school, and understanding health rights. No diagnosis is needed. Travel support if required and resource packs are provided. After completing the programme, young people can join the SMS:HUB for monthly peer support. Delivered by a trauma-informed team, the programme is free and referrals are accepted from families, schools, NHS boards, and professionals.
