Delivered by: Scarf
Last updated: 15/04/2026

In partnership with local authorities throughout the North East, the Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) provides a service to householders across the region.

In an effort to eradicate fuel poverty, HEAT provides dedicated, ongoing support to improve the energy efficiency of homes and give access to affordable warmth.

Tailored to their property and household circumstances, HEAT offers free and impartial advice to homeowners and local authorities, housing associations, and private rental tenants. HEAT provides in-home, in-depth advice through free home visits to help householders manage their fuel spend effectively while maintaining a warm, dry, and comfortable living environment.

The comprehensive advocacy service supports people with suppliers and tariffs, fuel debt, and metering issues. HEAT advisors can help householders find—and switch to—the best fuel supplier and tariff to suit their needs, as well as contact suppliers to address fuel debt and billing issues on the customer’s behalf.
