GCRA is a charitable organisation, which currently leads 39 specialist exercise classes suitable for people with heart conditions and a wide range of long-term health conditions [diabetes, arthritis, osteoperosis, cervical spondylosis, replacement surgery, back and joint pain, obesity, asthma, COPD, depression, stress, anxiety, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure], led by specially-trained exercise instructors, in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City.

If you are living with a health condition not listed above, then come along to your nearest GCRA exercise class and the instructor will assess if the exercise class is suitable for you.

GCRA exercise classes are also open to anyone who does not have a pre-existing condition and wants to exercise at their own pace to improve their overall well-being and attendees are welcome to bring a friend, spouse or carer with them.

GCRA is a member-led charity, which was founded in 2002 by three cardiac patients to establish and run Phase IV Cardiac Rehabilitation & Prevention exercise classes in Grampian.

In 2013/14, GCRA piloted generic exercise classes for people with a wide range of long-term health conditions on behalf of NHS Grampian and has since invited people with these conditions to exercise alongside people with heart conditions in the GCRA specialist exercise classes.

GCRA is a Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland affiliated group.

GCRA's ethos is 'Fun, Fitness & Friendship' and centres around encouraging people to be more physically active whilst having fun and making new friends.

No referrals are needed, so come along to your local GCRA exercise class and try your first class for free!
